Chips Ahoy - Swansea SA3 1AY is a standout fish and chips takeaway nestled on Monksland Road in the charming locale of Scurlage, Swansea. Perfectly positioned for visitors to Rosshill Beach, this seasonal gem offers a true taste of classic British seaside fare with a focus on fresh, beautifully fried fish and hearty, golden chips.
What sets Chips Ahoy apart is its dedication to quality and generous portions that leave customers both satisfied and eager to return. As one delighted patron, Cobnutters Home, described, “Really fab fish and chips. Good portion size, lovely fresh cod, great chips. Well worth a visit.” The fresh cod is notably flaky and tender beneath a perfectly crisp, golden batter that shatters delightfully with each bite. The chips come piping hot, with a fluffy interior that contrasts wonderfully against their crunchy exterior, making every mouthful a comforting indulgence.
Beyond the food itself, the service at Chips Ahoy remains consistently warm and efficient, even when tackling large orders. Philip Quarterman’s experience highlights this perfectly: “We had a huge order (33 meals) and they made the whole thing so easy and friendly. The food was great with no complaints (which is miraculous considering the audience). I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them…” This ability to cater to both locals and visitors during busy periods speaks volumes about their professionalism and passion for great food.
While some may hesitate ordering fish and chips from a high-volume tourist area, Luke Sargeant’s review reassures: “Generous portions of very well fried fish and chips along with good sides. Not the cheapest takeaway, but given the fairly remote location, it is justified… Next time we are back it’ll definitely be Chips Ahoy!” The takeaway perfectly balances authenticity with convenience, making it a must-visit stop whether you’re enjoying a day at the beach or exploring Swansea’s scenic coastline.
Chips Ahoy’s seasonal opening adds a special allure—it’s a treat that feels closely tied to the rhythms of seaside visits, making each trip feel like an opportunity to savor a beloved tradition. As Nihar Ranjan notes, it’s the quintessential fish and chips store during your beach visit, offering a simple yet unbeatable culinary experience.
In short, for anyone craving the iconic taste of fresh, expertly fried fish and chips with friendly service and generous portions, Chips Ahoy on Monksland Road is a destination that delivers. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this takeaway invites you to enjoy a slice of Swansea’s seaside flavor, perfectly wrapped in a crispy, golden batter.

Always feel a bit nervous when getting fish n chips in high volume tourism areas. But this really was spot on. Generous portions of very well fried fish and chips along with good sides. Inside a mixture of locals and visitors ordering in the busy shop. Not the cheapest takeaway, but given the fairly remote location, it is justified. Next time we are back it’ll definitely be chips, Ahoy! Thanks again
